NADJ North East & Cumbria Branch Formed
On the 11th January 2011 the North East & Cumbria Branch of the NADJ was officially formed.  Five founding members have consulted the NADJ Committee and the following people are now the Committee for that area:
  • Chris Dye - Chairman
  • Andy Neen - Vice-Chairman
  • Andy Maughan - Secretary
  • Paul Peart - Treasurer
A letter to the NADJ Secretary, Robbie Earl, with the proposal and signatures of the five founding members completed the process and no objections to the appointments were raised by the attendees of that meeting or the Committee of the NADJ.
The branch started off on an informal level to gain the interest of local DJs and to see if there was enough attendees from the region to take the branch forward.  The last meeting in November 2010 was the springboard for the new NADJ North East & Cumbria organisers to formalise the branch.
DJs from that particular region were consulted throughout the process and NADJ members for that area were given the chance to voice their opinions.  The members were also given an opportunity to object to any of the appointments and none came forward.
John Forbes, NADJ Membership Officer, said that he knows that this branch is in safe hands: "The NADJ members in the North East & Cumbria have quickly established a growing following of like-minded DJs to socialise, network, learn new skills and to get a better understanding of how other DJs operate.
"Setting up a branch is a daunting task and the Committee in that area is very strong and pro-active.  The gauntlet was thrown down and they have picked it up and they are doing a sterling job.
"I know that they have forged some great support from DJs and they have operators coming to the meetings from a very wide area.  In my opinion, the branch will go from strength to strength."
Rather than just have a North East branch, the visiting DJs were told of interest from operators in Cumbria who found it easier to attend a meeting in the Darlington area than in Cheshire, where there is already a strong following.  There were no objections to this and the official geographical area for the branch of the NADJ is the North East & Cumbria.
The Acting NADJ Chairman, Paul Arnett, was unable to attend the important meeting because he had already been asked to attend the NADJ Wales Social Event on the same day.  However, he will do everything in his power to visit the newly formed branch and he is looking forward to meeting the new Committee and some of the DJs from the area where he originally came from (County Durham).

Hi Karen,

I am founding member number five, but left the running of the North East & Cumbria Branch of the NADJ down to four very capable members.

Best of luck to you all. Good to see another branch opening up, anyone who does not join in your area is missing out on a top Association.

Thanks for all the well-wishes. The formation of the branch took a leap of faith in the local DJs to attend and the response was better than predicted. It was that support that created a smooth path to forming a branch and introducing some interesting topics at the meetings and an opportunity to network with other DJs.

Anyone interested in attending a branch or putting some work in to setup their own branch should click on 'Branches' on the main menu (above). If there's not a branch near you, please get in touch and the NADJ will help in any way it can to assist you.

NADJ Membership Officer
