The 2012 Annual General Meeting of the National Association of Disc Jockeys took place on Sunday 29th April 2012 at the Holiday Inn in Newport, South Wales. As well as the formal duties of electing the officers for the 2012-2013 term of office, the meeting was preceded with an opportunity to network with other DJs and then it was onto a selection of professional seminar speakers to help DJs hone their business skills.
The idea of holding seminars before the AGM was a new concept and it will be carried forward to future meetings that will take place in an area that has an established branch - rather than try to find somewhere in the middle of the country. Robin Earl, NADJ Secretary, reported that all of the nominations were for the existing elected Committee representatives. Therefore, the following people were elected unopposed and, with no objections, to the positions of: - Paul Arnett - Chairman
- Robin Earl - Secretary
- Brian Jones - Treasurer
The minutes of the 2011 AGM were accepted as a true record and the changes to the NADJ Constitution and Code of Conduct were passed. The main changes being the lowering of the Full Member age to 16 years old, clarification on methods of communication for the formal aspects of running the Association and also minor updates on the Code of Conduct. |

Back at BPM in October 2011, we had a good chat with some of the representatives from Action On Hearing Loss - the new name for the Royal National Institute for Deaf people (RNID). DJs regularly come in contact with loud music and for prolonged periods of time and we could all be damaging our hearing.
Action On Hearing Loss not only help those affected by hearing problems, but they also offer practical advice to help people protect their hearing. They also support research into an eventual cure for hearing loss or tinnitus. The team have been back in touch with us here at the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) to highlight their latest campaign that involves celebrities and musicians who have been directly affected by the business they work in or who are actively taking measures to stop hearing loss because they work in the entertainment sector. The Action On Hearing Loss website is a great source of information on how people (including DJs) can be affected by loud music/sounds at home or at work. There's a section that's appropriate for DJs called: Hearing Loss From Loud Music |

If you're looking for something a little different to the standard .co.uk. or .com web domains, why not go for one of the new .dj addresses? Only certain registrars can administer the .dj domains and we have a very special offer for NADJ members. DJ Domains are offering a 20% discount for the month of May 2012 for all domain names purchased by our members. You can purchase your .dj domain for £40 per year, rather than the current price of £49.99. The price of many domains are set by the country that has been issued their own web address. We searched for the best price for a .dj domain and the generous offer through DJ Domains was the cheapest we could find. This domain is the country code for Djibouti. It's also worth noting that NADJ members get free web hosting for one website as a benefit of membership. So, once your domain has been purchased, simply fill in the form in the 'Members' section of the site and we will set aside the online storage space for you to host your website. Once you have your web hosting details, you then point the DJ Domains .dj address to our server. It may sound daunting, but it's quite easy to get this set up. |

We've just added a new benefit to our website for DJs who want a virtual telephone number to divert calls to a mobile or another landline. The virtual number can be a geographical (01/02) number from your dialling code or elsewhere in the UK, a freephone 0800/0808 number or virtually any other personal numbering service that's out there. We've used TTNC for a number of years and we've had a problem free service throughout that time. Their charges are very reasonable compared to other similar providers. SSo, the combination of good service, an easy to use website for account settings and instant activation/forwarding, we think our members may want to take advantage of this offer. You could take advantage of £5 free call credit and if you're quick, there's also a £5 off discount code for an 0800/0808 number! Check out the 'Members' section of the NADJ website for more details (you'll need to be logged in to view that section): TTNC - Virtual Telephone Numbers: £5 Free Credit |
