NADJ Member In 'Danceathon' Charity Event

Gary Job is well known throughout the DJ sector for his active involvement in promoting Denon equipment and being a great source of advice and help for DJs using Denon equipment.  He's an Honorary Member of the National Association of Disc Jockeys and he's taking his Denon hat off with an appeal to our members to help him with his latest charity fundraiser.

Gary will be performing a 24-hour Danceathon from Sunday 19th February 2012 in Chippenham in Wiltshire.  Gary is running the event to raise money for Cancer Research as Gary explains: "The Danceathon will be well-stocked with a still-increasing number of everyday people who are being sponsored for however many hours they felt that they could push themselves to achieve - be it 30 minutes, an hour, two hours, or the entire 24 hours!

"I won't be dancing - I wouldn't want to scare the others away, but I will be single-handedly DJing for the entire 24 hours from start to finish."

Members who wish to support Gary and his dancers can donate by text or through the Just Giving website:

Visit Gary's 'The 24 Hour DJ' section of the Just Giving Website: http://www.justgiving.com/The24hourDJ

Send a text to 70070 with GJDJ67 and the amount you wish to donate. For example, text 70070 with: GJDJ67 £10

Donate by text, by texting 70070 with GJDJ67 followed by a pound sign (£) and the amount that you wish to donate.  Any amount can be donated this way, not just the £1 example that is shown in the image to the right.

Gary explained why he's taking part: "It was just before Christmas when I was asked if I could provide a short disco to kick-start the February 2012 24 hour Danceathon in aid of Cancer Research, and leave a loudspeaker behind so that everyone could dance throughout the remaining hours and hours of the event.

"After spending a lovely Christmas & New Year with my family and extended family, and visiting the Cancer Research website, I decided to "go for it" and DJ for the entire 24 hour Danceathon, not just the kick-start opening Disco.  I was more than happy to provide "support" for the sponsored dancers, and decided not only to stay awake for the full 24 hours needed of me, but to make sure that those who are dancing for all, or part of those 24 hours will not just achieve their sponsored number of hours dancing, but actually enjoy them.

"Then some fellow DJs who've I met both face to face, and in online DJ communities said they'd like to sponsor me for what they and I agree will be a long, hard, effort.

"To ensure that not only myself, but also the music stays pumping for 24 hours, I'll be using no laptops to provide the main audio, just real DJ hardware with thanks going out to Denon DJ and Bose for the loan of some of the best DJ equipment available today.  I wont be using pre-set playlists either, every single track, including live requests from the sponsored dancers will be individually cued up, ready to play manually - throughout the entire, long, 24 hours," said Gary.

Gary is a very pro-active supporter of the NADJ and we wish him all the very best of luck with his charity event.  We'd like to call on our members to also support him with a donation.  Please use the most convenient option for you to donate - the Just Giving website or follow the instructions for donating by text message.
